Over the four weeks we will explain the underlying principles of photography. This will be reinforced with hands on practical examples and self study.  Each class focuses on a different essential element of photography, overall covering subjects such as the camera, the lenses, exposure, and understanding light.

    PLEASE NOTE: All dates listed below are start dates of a 4 week course.

    4 week course, 2 hours per session
    Saturday 5th January 2019 10am-12pm
    Saturday 9th March 2019 10am-12pm
    Monday 3rd June 2019 7pm-9pm
    Saturday 5th October 2019 10am-12pm

    By the end of this course students should be able to

  • Set up their camera to ensure maximum creative control.
  • Understand and apply compositional theory.
  • Understand lens types and their application.
  • Apply knowledge for printing and digital usage of images.
  • Apply knowledge of focus, aperture and exposure.
  • Identify and correct common errors in photography.
  • Understand the basic behaviours and types of light.
  • Understand fundamental colour theory.
  • Creatively apply motion blur, long and short exposures.
  • Creatively apply focus point, focal plane, depth of field.

    4 weeks
    2 hours per class



    CLASS SIZE:
    4-8 students

    RECOMMEND EXPERIENCE
    Completion of Beginners course.
    OR adequate practical experience.

    RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT:
    Any Camera
    Any lens
    Tripod
